8 yr old son's lo

Kendall put together this lo by himself (and a little help from my stash) on Sunday afternoon. He even inked the chipboard by himself and matted the photo. the rubons are a bit hard to see but they pertain to the dog (Fluffly). Fluffy belongs to my brother and sister-in-law and she has a broken leg which is healing nicely. Love the photos I took of the kids and Fluffy.

Another Xmas Snap

Just another share from Xmas. It seems so long ago now as the New Year approaches. Not sure what we will do New Year's eve as we are both working, however will work it out later.

Satisfying a daughter

Dana checked out my blog yesterday and was totally indignant that Kendall had a Xmas shot on here but not her. So to keep the peace (it is still the Festive season right!!) I have a photo of her still in her nightie unwrapping Santa presents. The twins are eight and still believe (we have told them as soon as they do not believe Santa will not come). So if she checks out the web today she should be a happy chappy. Back to work this morning. No rest for the wicked!

Online Class

After having thoroughly cleaned the house and put away Xmas presents etc this morning I rewarded myself by completing two los from an online class with Nic Howard from Tarisota.

The classes were really well instructed (although I did have to substitute one piece of diecut paper as it did not arrive in my pack.) The los only took about 3/4 of an hour each and I am really happy with the way the suited the photographs I was scrapping. I am off to work soon so thought I would share these with you first.

Shopping Shopping

Today was big sale day in Mackay, although some of the bargains weren't that great. We set off early and picked up the MIL and were at the shopping centre before the outside doors even opened. Anyway to cut a long story short, this picture is of our boot before we unloaded it this afternoon. We did have to buy quite a few new clothes for Wade, (darling husband DH) as he as really lost a lot of work lately. The bargains for him were massive and now he at least has clothes to wear. (Sad part about it was I was hoping we did not have to go to a funeral as he had no good clothes that fitted). Anyway we had a great day and we normally don't shop like this. Even got some scrapbooking bargains at Spotlight this afternoon. Hope you all had a great Xmas.

Over for another year

well!!! It's a lot of preparations and forethought for one day but it is all worth it. Have just seen off the last of the family, bathed the kids and will soon be retiring after a very busy but happy day.
The dining table was simple this year. I had to move the flowers when we ate as we could not see over them. Thank goodness for A/c especially when you do the full roast dinner. We had a great time sitting in the a/c eating to our hearts content. Kendall received so much leggo that he will be building for a long time. He was particularly proud of the Coast Guard helicopter which he built after lunch. Well I wish you all a very happy boxing day. We start again tomorrow with my Mum's birthday celebrations. Got to love the festive season.

Winner

I have just been visiting my favourite sites and lo and behold I find my name on the Fiskars craft site. I have won a fiskars pack from commenting on a Christmas tradition in our family. I have never won anything before and this is really great. I know I'm rambling but I just had to share the news with someone even if it is 6.00 o'oclock in the morning......

Photos from a friend

One of Kendall's dance buddies, mother, dropped in these two photos from the concert to me on Friday. It is great to have other peoples's angles from concerts, eisteddfods etc as you generally are rushing around getting kids ready. They both looked like little stars in the shots so I couldn't resist using this star paper. I have cut a few out and mounted transparency underneath so I could remount them on the page in 3D. The chipboard word is also 3D mounted. Only four more sleeps......Merry Christmas

Just got home from sorting mail. What chaos there has been this year. The mail centre has had all sorts of problems; hopefully they will be ironed out on the weekend. People may refer to snail mail but there is a hell of a lot of snails posting big parcels this year. Yesterday at work we packaged huge things. Obviously people did not think about what they were buying and having to post away. Anyway, have not had much sleep this week. The kids are at Nanna's for the week so at least I'm not getting cranky with them. Can't wait til 5.00 p.m. Wednesday; think my next job might have nothing to do with Christmas lol. Received the Christmas card this morning in mail, seems even the elves are running behind this year.

Double Layout

A double lo which I completed yesterday. Still unsure whether I like it but it does represent a special day for Kendall.

Quick Post

Just a quick post to let you know that a slight storm has broken the heat. We should now have beautiful green grass for Christmas. When everything is green around you it feels cooler even when it is 32 degrees outside.

Have a great week

December Challenge-Scrapbooking Premiere

Sandra has put out the challenge again this month. I finished this lo last night and checked it over so many times to see if I had included all the elements required. I am quite happy with the result and thought I would share it with you all. Did I mention that it is really hot and humid today.....Oh blissful summer!!!!

Finally scrapping again

It was soooo hot here on the weekend, I put on the aircon in the office on Sunday and decided to scrap the school portraits of the kids. It was so nice to concentrate and feel comfortable, mind you on going outside the humidity nearly killed you. Finally we had a storm this afternoon so maybe it will be a little cooler tomorrow, (we live in hope!!!)

Award Day

Friday saw the school award parade. We were quite proud as Kendall received the Grade 3 HPE award. The photo of him is not so good as he was more interested in getting back to his class mates, but I have included the medal photos.
Christmas stuff is hotting up and we never seem to be home lately, dance break ups, concerts, carols, dinners out and work seem to be filling our days. Hope you had a good weekend!!

share from Ngaire's online class

Have just finished lo after putting up Christmas lights and tree etc. Lights look great although I put up a few less this year as it was too hot to stay out all day.
Dance concert was fabulous. A really professional show, a credit to teachers, students and the parents alike.

I really enjoyed doing Ngaire's lo. She is a really talented scrapper who really does think outside the square.

First online class

I did my first online class with Ngaire last night. did not finish the lo as I aonly had 3 1/2 hours sleep night before. Hopefully I will get it finished before we head off to the theatre for the dance concert matinee and night performances. Hope you all have a great weekend. Will share lo when finished

Busy week

I thought Saturday was busy, this week will be awesome. We have dance rehearsals every day except Friday in readiness for our Saturday concerts. I have enrolled in Ngaire B's online class for Friday night so I hope I don't fall asleep doing it.
The kids are pretty resilient however I am letting them have Friday off school. I also am only working part time this week. Staff get to earn some extra Christmas money, so I suppose dancing is kind to everyone this week. Hope you all have a great one!!

What a day

Well here it is 7.10p.m. and I have achieved so much today. Vacuumed the pool and did the chemicals, did the washing and folding, took kids to dance practise, put patches on a jacket for finale for dance concert, had a music practice for concert Friday Week, went to town and did more Xmas shopping, cooked corn beef for tea, wrapped teacher presents and some xmas presents, made more xmas gift bags for little presents and now me thinks I need a drink. Was going to scrap tonight but don't know if I will make it. Hope you all had a wonderful day, I will probably collapse tomorrow although I will have to work at po Sunday afternoon.

New blog

Have just been introduced to new blog.
www.scrapware.typepad.com

It is new and the stuff on it so far is really great. Have a look I'm sure you will agree.

Quickie

Just a quick post to say we are thinking of all of you who may have damage from the Brisbane storms. Please keep your chins up and remember material possessions can be replaced, but keep your loved ones close to your hearts. Here are my cherubs. I know you have to let them go and be a little independant but when they come and give a hug or cuddle you know they will always be your little ones.

Award Pockets

Every year I make a pocket lo for the kids to put their certificates, awards etc in and we keep them in their album for that year. It keeps everything in one place and also can be related to the los for the year. This year I used up stuff in my stash, like letters that I can't make words out of etc. So I might say that is another job done and I've probably just added another 3 to the list. Have a great day....

Trying new things

I'm not really one for mini books or albums. I don't know why really, probably because I have never had much call for them. However, seeing the festive season is nearly upon us I thought I should experiment with a Christmas mini album/book. This one has the Christmas tree border. I have just done the basics ready to apply the photographs after Christmas. I am hoping this will save me some work and then I will only have to complete a few los for the festive celebration. I've taken several photos and dowloaded them for you to see. Have a great day.

Another week flies

Here it is Friday evening and yet another week has flown. I don't seem to be getting a lot of scrapping done. The kids dance concert is soon and they are busy with dance practises after school. By the time we get homework done and dancing it leaves little time for much else. I suppose I can't complain, I have made Xmas cards and gift bags and also kept the kids albums as up to date as I can. We have our annual general meeting for athletics on Sunday, and I am hoping to have lunch with the family as it is our 17th wedding anniversary. Wade says he would have got less for murder, typical male, but in this day and age I am proud that our marriage can weather the storms that are sent to try us all. These are some of the cards I have made. Hope you all have a great weekend.

Something different

I decided to try something a little different from my normal lo. Kris from Ruby St Design has some really great heritage supplies. In this lo I used net as a photo mat and then framed it with the lace flowers and diamente string. The paper is a replica of a cash book with the page no on the top, so I used this as a year indicator crossing out the 74 and replacing it with 08. The 21st is stickers on the back of wooden typewriter keys. (I like some dimension on the page.) I have wanted to do something with this particular photo for awhile, and someone suggested that the twins looked like they were rehearsing for their 21st birthday. The light bulb went on and here is the lo. Sometimes it pays to travel outside the comfort zone.

A quick boast

I have just taken the Christmas puddings off the stove. They turned out beautifully, no cracks, no breaks and they smell fantastic. Now we are another step closer to the big day....have a good afternoon,....

A little Christmas Share

Thought I would share these little Christmas bags. Tarisota Designs have the template to download and they are marvelous. I photocopied and enlarged the A4 template to A3 to achieve the larger bags. Such a nice way to give gifts. A little bit of yourself all wrapped up with the Christmas present.

Cup Day

It happens every year...the great Melbourne Cup. Generally I dress up and head off to a luncheon etc...but this year I have opted out. (I had bought the hat etc). I have not been 100% healthy and there are a lot of things to catch up on. I have to play at our local carols by candlelight at the beginning of Dec. and still haven't chosen music...and I really do need to rest. So today is catch up day.....and maybe a little scrapping. Working on Scrapbooking Premiere's November challenge at the moment so hope to get a little done on this lo.....Hope your horse wins!!!!

Results a plenty....

Have just got home from Sarina and couldn't wait to share one of my los from a day of scrapping. It is so great to dedicate time solely to scrapping and not have to worry about the household chores and feeding the masses. I particularly like this lo using a overlay from Hambly. Hope you all had a great weekend....

A varied weekend

We are in for a varied weekend. We are hosting a typical Aussie BBQ (including pavlova for dessert), tomorrow night for some friends from the States and Sunday, I get to scrap from 10.00 to 4.00 with Scrapbooking Premiere...our online store in Sarina. Can't wait to scrap, lacking a little lately. Can't seem to shake a mysterious flu come cold that I have had for 2 weeks. Rest would probably help, but who has time for that. Hopefully I will be able to post some los Sunday night..

Happy Halloween....avagood weekend.

time to scrap....

Finally I have had a small amount of time to scrap and managed to complete three los. The eisteddfod photos are really beautiful and I want to give them justice but the mojo is slow in appearing however this double lo came together finally.

It's been a week

OMG I can't believe I have not posted since Monday. Where does the time go?! Stupid question really, as none of us ever seem to have spare time any more. Any way, thought I would share this lo that I have just finished. Couldn't resist featuring the clown face as the kids were all portraying clowns in their 10 years novelty group at the eisteddfod.

Sarina Crop

What a wonderful day I had in Sarina yesterday. Thanks to the wonderful Sandra from Scrapbooking Premiere who organised the crop. We had a great time. There was a class lo as well as time to scrap on your own. I'm featuring the dance lo I did with a photo of my daughter from the eisteddfod. So simple, but effective. Glitter, 3d mounting of words on the paper and some great glitter letters. A quick but effective lo.

Lay out Complete

Well I did finish the lo yesterday. I also started putting together photos and supplies for the Scrapbooking Premiere crop in Sarina on Sunday. Not sure whether I like this lo but it is growing on me. The grunge board skull is great and ink seems to really give a good coverage it. My kids think the overlay should have been for a boy page but hey you can put flowers on boys pages why not pirates on girls. I'll leave it up to you to decide.

Excitement

I know it probably sounds silly to those of you who have been published, however the wonderful Sandra from Scrapbooking Premiere has placed one of my los on the home page of her store. I know it's not there forever but what a thrill to log in and see your work on a home page. OK enough gushing; Tuesday day off again and it will be catch up day for me. Preparing for eisteddfod again tomorrow, washing etc and of course finishing a lo that has been on my desk for 2 weeks in various stages of development. Hopefully I will be able to show it to you tomorrow....fingers crossed.

Have a good one....

Eisteddfod pics

Have just been told by a friend that the local paper took photos of my son on stage at eisteddfod on Monday. They didn't get published but we can purchase them. Thought I would share one with you all. Back to Eisteddfod again today......

Fiskateer

Just a quick post tonight. I have just been made a fiskateer, thanks to Rebecca Peck from Fiskars. What a great online community. Have started doing up my bio etc but will have to save most of it until after this weekend as we will be at the eisteddfod all weekend.

Have a really great w/e.

Keep scrapping, Rhonda

Breast Cancer Cards

Have been making Christmas cards in response to Carole Jansons blog where we scrappers supply 3 cards (or more) to be sold and proceeds to Breast Cancer Research. I whole heartedly support this research as breast cancer is not choosy; it does not matter what age or stage of life everyone is at risk. Here is a peak at one of my cards. The second card was made tonight by my 8 years old daughter Dana. She wanted to help out and for a first attempt it is not too bad. She is quite adept with the Sizzix machine and even makes tags out of scrap for the lady who owns the Pot (planters not the drug) Shop here in Wakerston.

Success

Just a quick post. Had the kids solo section at Eisteddfod today. They both did really well and I am proud of them just for getting on the stage and finishing the routine. Kendall was awarded a Highly Commended in his section; not bad for 1st timer. More later,

Rhonda

Time management

I was determined to get some los done yesterday and was actually successful, even if I got tea in between and organised eisteddfod costumes. Kids solos are tomorrow and we have had a practice this morning so hopefully they will remember everything,

Digital scrapping

Just playing around with photoshop and tried a lo digitally. I have never done this before as I like the hands on approach to scrapping but I thought it was worth a share. Have a good weekend.

Eisteddfod fever reaches a high

Had our first run through at the theatre this afternoon. Hopefully the kids performed well for their teachers. We have another run through on Saturday, but the kids get an RDO tomorrow. Hopefully they will rest up a bit (knowing my two I doubt it) and be ready to start again on Saturday. As a consequence my scrapping has taken a back seat but I will get back to it very soon.
Here is a lo I did a little while ago using an overlay. I stamped both on and under the overlay to add a little more to the background. simple but effective!!

Home to Hectic

Well, we made it home safely from Townsville. Now the fun begins. Mackay eisteddfod starts on Monday 6/10. We have our solos on this day and groups at the end of the week and the following week. School holidays are the ideal time for practice, practice practice!!!. Had a morning and afternoon session yesterday. Our own private practice and group today, lots tomorrow and Thursday...but we have Friday off. Back into it on Saturday.

I am lucky to have such wonderful Mums in our kids class who help me out with transport when I have to work. These ladies are like my angels and nothing in words can ever express how much I appreciate their help. I have included a photo from the weekend with Kendall in full flight in one of his races. Hope your week has started out well...
