Big Day Out

and no not the one you all are thinking of; I'm far too old for that sort. We had a lot to do in town today and before we left I managed to get washing done. So after purchasing dance gear, scrapbooking supplies, extra stuff for school and visiting Target's sale, we landed at the inlaws so I could do her BAS. We made it home a little after 4.00 and then started all over again. The kids love crumbed cutlets so with their helped we crumbed the cutlets, made fudge brownie and folded the washing. {Thank God for the dryer otherwise the washing would still be hanging in the rain. I decided after dinner that I would try and do a lo. The photo of Kendall was taken in the Cathedral Cave at the Capricornia caves two weeks ago. It is such a great photo and I wanted something simple to show it off. I have used Pink Paislee base paper and a Fancy Pants Transparency. I simply inked the title and the stars and swirls onto the bas page. I don't think it needs anymore. I love it and I hope you like it too.......

First school day ends

Well it's all quiet on the home front. We have survived the first day back at school. The twins are in separate classes this year. Kendall is in a straight Year 4 class while Dana is in a combined Year 4/7 class. I know this sounds strange but there were not enough year 7s and 4s to form two classes of each. Hopefully it will be OK. They seem to Ok with their teachers although Kendall got homework and Dana didn't! Try explaining that one to 8 year olds!!!!! Anyway we will continue on for the week. Back at work today, no surprises still the same old place kept running by my very capable and dependable staff (God I love them!). Hopefully some more los to share on the weekend. Spent Aust. Day making cards from scraps. Managed about a dozen so hopefully these will keep me going for a couple of months.

2nd Lo from online class

Here is the second lo from the online class from Tarisota. I had to modify it somewhat as my photographs were no portrait, but the colours suited so I had a play and moved things around to fit the photographs in. Hopefully I have now completed the dance photos from 08 ready for 09 lol. I will be working on our holiday snaps next and am somewhat perplexed how I will do the cave ones but no doubt a light will turn on in my head at some time. Kids are back to school tomorrow so we will definitely be back into the old routine. Happy Australia Day.

Online class

Having done all the mundane tasks associated with coming home from holidays I allowed myself some time last night to do a Tarisota online class designed by Mel Godsell. I have not done a lot of los with fabric on them but I quite like the textures the gauze and gingham give to the lo.

Home again

Well, I'm home after a wonderful week with the family in Yeppoon. What a week!! Went to the Olsen caves near Rockhampton and have some fantastic photos which of course I can't wait to scrap. I have included just one in this post. Went to the Peter Brock experience in Yeppoon. Wade is a Brocky fan and Mr Peter Champion has done a fantastic job collecting Peter Brock original cars and memorabilia for the display. It was well worth the visit even though I'm a Dick Johnson fan myself. We went up to Byfield to Ferns where by having lunch at their restaurant you can use all their facilities e.g. canoes, tennis court, beach volley ball, pool, spa etc. Great food and great family day out. The pottery places up that way aren't bad either. We used the paddle boats and canoes on the causeway lake. This is a great place for the kids although it was stinking hot when we were there. We took the obligatory look (as we do each year) of the singing ship monument in Emu Park. It was really singing this time as the wind was howling. A little spooky but a fantastic monument. Unfortunately we did not go to Great Keppel as the resort has been closed, hopefully not permanently. Anyway I'm raving so I'll post the photo and talk to you all soon. (Have to get the washing done!!!)

Last Post

This will be my last post for a few days as we are taking off for a break before school goes back. I am still to pack but that won't take too long and then hopefully I will get to relax a little before my world goes back into overdrive. Enjoy your week...

A masterpiece

Tuesday is my day off so the kids decided Mum could do things for them. Dana went to a friend's house to play all day and Kendall had a mate over to sleep on Monday night and play yesterday. Both Kendall and his mate are very creative and also have an engineering sense. The photo I have today is of the tall ship the two of them built yesterday (with a little help from
Grandad (my dad)). They just used old timber from the shed and a little dowel, string and one of my old sheets. I now have to purchase more glue for the hot glue gun but hey the effort from these two 8 year olds is fantastic and worth buying more glue for....

Blogger award

A very special thank you to Carole Janson, an inspirational scrapper from Gladstone, for her award to 8 scrapping ladies, (me included). Every since doing one of Carole's classes in Brisbane last year I have been hooked. I don't say I do 3D los all the time but I do love them and her work is absolutely beautfiul. I have included a simple lo from Christmas with the kids and their gifts. The tree is made from Karen Day chipboard trees and a pocket in the middle to make a shaker tree. (Ah yes remember Creative Memories Shaker pages, seems like ancient history now!) The kids love it and although it was a quick page it still documents Christmas Day.

Challenge Lo

The January challenge for Scrapbooking Premiere is up and this is my lo for it. I was lucky enough to be chosen as the winner for the December challenge, which is quite a thrill. I drew a sketch of this one first and let that sketch be embellished in my head so the acutal completion of the lo only took about an hour. There is something to be said for forward planning in the time management stakes.

Another lo

Spent all day yesterday cleaning out Wade's grandmother's house...think we are going back today as well although I have to be at work at 4.00 p.m. She has so much stuff, I packed and wrapped crystal from 8.30 to midday yesterday. We hopefully can get a lot more done before the cleaners come in. Anyway here is a simple lo I did on Friday night using a diecut heart Bazzill paper. I was lucky to have a matching pen to write around the heart about the photo.

Friday Frenzy

I spent last night at my lss for Friday Frenzy. I managed to complete 5 los, some more simple than others but at least I am getting there. My first lo of the night was a 3D using Basic Grey Sultry. I know you have to use 3 or 4 pieces of the same paper but I am really happy with the result. I will share other los with you later. The butterfly and tranparent flowers are made by stamping onto transparency with stazon ink and cutting out. Gel pens were used to colour butterfly. Also I have just read by emails and I was lucky enough to be chosen winner of the December challenge for Scrapbooking Premier. A great thrill. Looking forward to the January Challenge even more now!

A lo on Fiskars Craft

Just read my emails and have one from Lynne Dwyer from Fiskars. A lo I did using some RAK winnings before Xmas has been put up on their website. I am thrilled. It is nice to have your work recognised by others. I usually scrap for myself and my own pleasure but the little thrill you get when you make it on to someone else's site is wonderful. Here is the lo so you too can have a look or head to www.fiskarscraft.typepad.com.

Kids Class

Have just returned home from attending a Kids Class at Magical Memories. Dana and Kendall both attended and did wonderful los. A big thank you to Lisa who took the class. Here are their los. (Not bad for 8 year olds) The class was about using masks, Kendall adored the barbed wire one, so boyish!!!

Lately I have been participating in the Fiskateers clean up your scrap space for 2009 campaign. I thought I would share with you my space. I am in the middle of creating an off the page but took these photos before I started. I have the great fortune to have an office which is predominatly used for the computer and me. Till next time....

Up and running again

A quick trip into Office Works this afternoon and now I am the proud owner of a Dell Hybrid CPU. It is only 8 inches tall and takes up so little space unlike my old (now defunct) tower. It also came with wireless keyboard and mouse so I have spent this evening until now reloading software, recovering photos etc. The photo does not do it justice but I could not be happier. I hate not being in the electronic world.

computer crash

We had big power outages on New Years Eve and went to start up computer yesterday and it has totally died. Posting this from work computer so hopefully will get new computer tomorrow. Good way to start the year....
